  • Urban minority students who have experienced minimal success in large public schools
  • Students who lack the basic skills necessary to handle a college-preparatory curriculum
  • Students who need a small school environment in order to be successful..

Learning Environment

Key elements of DCP’s learning environment include:

  • An extended school day
  • One-on-one tutoring available through community volunteers and local college students
  • Academic progress monitored by each student’s advisor

Culture of Achievement

All students are expected to live up live up to DCP’s values of ganas (desire), comunidad (community), and orgullo (pride).

Students are required to wear a uniform and to act with dignity and mutual respect, both on and off campus.

Family Involvement

At DCP, family involvement is critical to each student’s success:

  • Collaboration and communication with DCP families about grades and classroom performance are key to each student's success.
  • DCP families are involved in every part of the school - from teacher conferences to parent groups to activities and events.
  • Families meet by grade level to take part in classes, seminars, presentations and trainings to help them prepare for their children’s transition to high school and college.
