Why are you excited to go to college?

SCU is really the best option for me. They have phenomenal, nationally ranked programs, a gorgeous campus, and it is close to home which is important for me. I'm excited to explore my passion for tinkering as well. I was the type of kid who would deconstruct and reconstruct things to learn how they worked. My dad had an old computer and I was taking it apart and rebuilding it at a very young age. I love seeing my hardwork come into fruition, and I am excited to see all the things I will be able to create with access to a college lab.

Who inspired you to live your dream of going to college?

My parents have been a huge inspiration. They immigrated from Mexico, and watching them work hard to achieve everything they have instilled a strong work ethic in me. They also inspire me to always keep moving forward, and strive for what is ahead. My family is incredibly important to me, and I want to honor their hard work by obtaining a college degree.

What would you tell a prospective student to convice them to attend DCP?

The sense of community and the relationships you build at the smaller school will be harder to come by in a larger school. The teachers are always around and eager to help, and your friends are always in your classes. The size and the community is what makes DCP special. You remember the good connections and the positive memories. Striving for positive relationships and memories becomes natural at DCP.
