Ruth Wamuyu Schriver
Chief Operating Officer
Year joined DCP: 2011
“Growing up in a rural village in Kenya, watching my grandmother try to eke out a living from a peasant farm, life seemed bleak until I fell in love with books, which allowed me to escape into stories that talked of places and things I could only imagine. I knew then that education was going to be the vehicle that took me to these places and that only education could save me from a destiny of poverty. That journey has been arduous and, at times, letting go of my dreams would have been the easier path. Now that I have achieved more than was ever expected of me, I want the same for others who Society has written off because of circumstances they cannot control. That is why I joined DCP.”
